I wanted to remind you of the upcoming seminar that
I am sponsoring with Anita York of Scott & Whitehead, on Friday, January
17th, entitled 2014 Legal Updates and Hot Topics For Dental Practices.
click here or on the graphic below you can listen to a
short preview of what Anita will be covering at the seminar.
I am sorry to say that employees continue to sue
employers, and especially former employers, in record numbers. In today’s
world, dental practices are far from immune. To make matters worse,
California employment laws continue to change in ways that make the
likelihood of employer error by you higher than ever before. For example:
- Are you aware of the new requirements if one of your employees
- Are you aware of the newest protected classes?
- Do you know what is required of you if an employee tells you that he or
she is being stalked?
Even if you do not anticipate problems in any of these specific areas,
there are many more potential pitfalls that you need to be aware of for
2014 and beyond. Just last year, Anita represented dental clients against
claims of unpaid overtime, penalty payments for rest break violations, and
compensation for employee benefits violations.
Those claims alone represent potentially tens of thousands of dollars in
back pay, penalties and interest, to say nothing of attorneys’ fees. Along
with Anita our goal is to prevent you from incurring attorneys’ fees,
and help you avoid employment-related legal claims.
As we enter 2014, it is imperative that you know what you must do, what
you may do, and what you are not permitted to do, in areas such as
employee compensation (including overtime and bonuses), alternative
workweek schedules, leaves of absence, social networking posts, disability
accommodation, and the list goes on.
On Friday, January 17th, we will cover these topics
and much more. Plus, this
program is approved for 3.5 hours of CE credit.
To register, please use the link for the flyer/order form below. At this
time, there are only about 6
