Exactly 25 years ago, Michael and I lost our newly born baby girl 3 days
after she was born. The circumstances of that loss could have been different
with better health care services. Out of that painful personal experience
was born our desire to help ensure that other families do not suffer such
avoidable tragedies. That was why in 2006 we founded Friendx
of Africa with a group of other people with similar goals and
We are asking you to partner with us for a 3-Mile Walk/run around Lake
Merritt in Oakland, California on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 9:00 am for
a Worthy Cause called Friendx of Africa (FOA).
Here is why...
Friendx of Africa (FOA) is a 501(C)3 non-profit
organization founded in 2006 with a mission to reduce preventable diseases
and improve the quality of life for people in African nations! FOA is
committed to achieving its mission through organizing health fairs and
health education campaigns on preventive care; and through equipping local
clinics and healthcare professionals with medical equipment and supplies in
order to strengthen health delivery systems for the benefit of thousands of
children and adults in need of medical attention.
This year, FOA is raising $30,000 to purchase over-the counter medications
and medical supplies for its medical missions to Hawassa, Ethiopia in
October and to Johnsonville, Liberia, November 8-20, 2018.
FOA is Blessed with volunteers who pay their own
way so 100% of the funds raised, goes to Medical supplies, Equipment and
Health-related Educational supplies for the trip.
We greatly appreciate your partnership for the 3-mile walk on Saturday,
August 25, 2018 to meet our fundraising goal of $30,000.
